Area C is an area in the historic centre of Milan with access restrictions for certain types of vehicles. It coincides with the limited traffic zone (ZTL) Cerchia dei Bastioni and is delimited by gates with cameras.
You can check your vehicle at this link of the Municipality of Milan
Area C operates on weekdays at the following times: Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Area C does not operate on Saturdays and public holidays.
Yes, if you enter the historical centre at the indicated times and days and pay only 1 admission. If you then leave your car parked during your entire stay without moving it, you can stop paying. You do not pay for Area C if you check in at weekends or on public holidays, always leaving your car parked without moving it.
I advise you to drive down and park, then you can go to the tobacco shop in St Mark’s Square and buy your ticket. It has to be activated with the car’s number plate by following the instructions. Alternatively, this is the Municipality’s link, you can also buy and activate the ticket online at the MyAreac website: link For more information on Area C, visit the Milan Municipality website at the following link
1) You can park curbside, even in Via Solferino, if you can find space. You have to choose the parking spaces identified with the blue line on the carriageway side, these are the ones you have to pay for (the yellow lines are for residents). There is no free roadside parking. Payment can be made at the turrets on the pavement, the closest one being on Via Solferino, corner of Via Ancona. You have to pay from 8 a.m. to midnight, weekends included.
2) Covered car parks: – In Via San Marco there is a covered pay car park, should you prefer this solution. Prices are daily and more expensive than street-side parking. – The second silo is called ‘Autosilo Pontaccio’, and is located at Via Pontaccio 2, very close to home. The telephone number is: 028693355 open Monday to Saturday from 8.00am to 2.00am. Prices: €6.00 / 2 hrs €9.00 / 3 hrs €11.00 / 4 hrs €13.00 / 5 hrs €15.00 / 6 hrs €16.00 / 7 hrs €17.00 / 8 hrs €18.00 / 9 hrs €19.00 / 10 hrs €20.00 / 11 hrs €21.00 / 12 hrs €27.00 / 24 hrs
Alternatively, for less money you can use the ATM car parks outside the city centre. In my opinion the most convenient is Lampugnano, which is connected to the metro network. http://www.atm.it/it/ViaggiaConNoi/Auto/Pagine/interscambio_urbano24.aspx The cost is 7.50 euro/day. From there, take the underground red line to ‘Cadorna’, then change to the green line direction ‘Cologno Nord-Gessate’ to ‘Lanza’, one stop.
SUPERMARKET_ Right behind the house, in Via Ancona, there is a convenient new Carrefour supermarket, very well stocked. BIO SUPERMARKET_ In Via Solferino almost at the corner with Via Pontaccio you will find the organic shop ‘L’orto botanico’. PANETTIERE_ At the corner of Via Solferino and Via Ancona is the famous Pattini bakery. GASTRONOMY_ Also on the corner of Via Solferino and Via Ancona is the Rossi e Grassi shop, a certainty in Milan. You can find ready meals of all kinds.
If you want to try Milanese excellence, I recommend you try it:
– PECK, in Via Spadari, in the oldest area of Milan. The multi-storey store is the temple of Milanese gastronomy. Opposite the shop you will find the fish market.
– ROSSI E GRASSI, Via Solferino. An institution in Milan. They set up high tables for a quick lunch with their delicatessen products.
– EATALY, Piazza XXV Aprile 10. One culinary stop is the large ‘Eataly’ Milano Smeraldo building, which was set up inside a former theatre, the Smeraldo Theatre. You can go shopping, have a coffee or dinner. The products are highly selected.
I love ice cream and this is my personal selection:
Close to home:
– GELATERIA SOLFERINO, Via Solferino 18. It is a historical ice-cream parlour, it has existed since I was a child.
– RIVARENO, Via Mercato 20. Five minutes’ walk from home in the heart of Brera.
Level-headed restaurants can be found in the area.
– An excellent restaurant is RIGOLO, in Largo Treves. The price per person is average, cheaper at lunchtime.
– In Via Palermo, a continuation of Largo Treves, there are some good pizzerias: GRAND’ITALIA offers pizza by the slice.
– OBIKà, at Via Mercato 28, offers a menu based on mozzarella, different types and flavours. Happy hour is pleasant.
– KAIMANO in Via Fiori Chiari 20, in the heart of Brera, has a very good Neapolitan pizza and the restaurant is also good.
– LA SIBILLA on Via Mercato 14 has excellent pizza, and the calzone should be tried.
– Outside the Brera district there are excellent restaurants, try the trattoria DA MARTINO, Via Carlo Farini 8.
– NERINO, in Via Nerino (Via Torino) is a good cheap trattoria.
– GUERRINI, Amendola Fiera district, Via Previati, is considered one of the best in town, but I personally have not tried it.
– BRELLIN, Navigli district, in Vicolo dei Lavandai is an old restaurant in a great location, but it is rather expensive.
I love sushi and my favourite in town is THIS IS MY SUSHI BAR. Visit www.thisisnotasushibar.com to order online with home delivery, or choose one of their restaurants.

I have studied several parking alternatives for you. The Fisherman’s is located within the Blue zone of the ZTL. Important note: the flat is located within the pedestrian zone. Do not cross the entrance with your car or you will receive a fine.
1) You can park curbside, even close to home along Viale Rimembranza or on the road leading to the harbour. You have to choose the parking spaces identified with the blue line on the carriageway side, these are the ones you have to pay for (the yellow lines are for residents). There is no free roadside parking. Payment can be made at the kerbside turrets. You have to pay from 8 a.m. to midnight, weekends included. The standard hourly rate is EUR 2.00 close to home, with a minimum charge of EUR 0.50.
– Sant’Anna car park at the end of the Descalzo promenade. My advice is to unload your bags close to home and then go and park. The walk home is very pleasant, taking about fifteen minutes while looking at the sea. From 1 April to 30 September the rate is 1.00 euro/hour; from 1 October to 31 March the rate is 0.50 euro/hour; 7 consecutive days from 1 April to 30 September cost 50.00 euro.

I love cooking in Sestri, the vegetables and fruit are amazing, and over time I have selected my suppliers. Here are my recommendations: – Pastificio Moderno, in Via XXV Aprile n. 58, almost at the junction with Via della Chiusa. – Ortofrutta Duro: Viale Dante Alighieri, opposite Via Stati Uniti. Go to Rosa and tell her we are friends, she will give you the best fruit and vegetables. It is expensive, but worth it. It also buys local producers’ 0 km products. The eggs are also very good. – L’acquolina in Bocca (rotisserie with take-away): Piazza Repubblica 7. My favourite place. Simple, clean, excellent cuisine. Try green bean and potato pies or spring pie, they are the best. – Panetteria da Luca: located in the caruggio, on Via XXV Aprile; there are two and one has just opened its doors. Don’t go at lunchtime in the summertime because you may be queuing for more than an hour; Via XXV Aprile no. 32 one, the other is even closer to home. – Bakery ‘Le Dolci Piazze in Via XXV Aprile 113’: excellent cakes and croissants, although they decide every day whether and how many brioches to bake!
Try ‘100% Natural’ a few metres from home, at the intersection of Via XXV Aprile and Vico Lombardo. The owner is very friendly and the ice cream excellent. They use cabanina milk and very high quality products, many local. – Baciollo: Piazza Giacomo Matteotti 55, opposite the house, one of the oldest in Sestri.
The sea is exceptionally clean this year and Sestri Levante has been awarded the BLUE FLAG! The Municipality of Sestri Levante has created a website to monitor accesses to free beaches: www.sestrispiagge.it The website www.sestrispiagge.it is useful for viewing the availability of free places on the beaches of Sestri Levante and Riva Trigoso in real time. This is purely for information purposes and it is not possible to reserve seats. The map shows the rules that allow social distancing even on the beach and the access points. Once you have seen the availability online, you go to the gate of your choice and the steward will accompany you to your designated pitch. The site is operational for one of the most picturesque beaches in the world, the Bay of Silence, or the larger Bay of Fables. Baia delle Favole: there are also bathing establishments here, with some areas used as free beaches, especially going towards Sant’Anna. If you like walking, follow the promenade keeping the sea on your left and almost at the end you will find the ‘Girls’ Kiosk’. It is a small kiosk with a beautiful sea view.
Yes, I made arrangements with restaurants close to home that I tested personally. My favourite is ‘Il Brigantino’ in Viale Rimembranza 38. You can sit in the outdoor area or inside the venue. Ask for Ombretta and introduce yourself as a Guest of The Fisherman’s, you will get a discount at the till. Downstairs they opened ‘La Sciamadda dei Vinaccieri’ in Piazza Matteotti, again mention The Fisherman’s and you get a discount or a welcome gift. The food is very good, the budget is higher. You are one step away from home but you dine in a restaurant.
Sestri is known for good food. This is my personal selection. Each restaurant has adopted Covid-19 prevention measures in a different way, and those who are able to do so have extended their outdoor dining areas. – “Osteria La Mattana”, Via XXV Aprile 34. Reservations cannot be made. Wooden tables with shared seating. Ligurian cuisine is enjoyed. Economical. – In the same street is ‘Polpo Mario’ an excellent fish restaurant with average prices. – La Mainolla’, closest to home. Via XXV Aprile 187. I love their focaccia di Recco, it is the only place where it is made really well. The fish dishes and pasta with clams are excellent. They have an outdoor seating area. – Pizzeria ‘I Due Forni’, Viale Dante Alighieri 75. Very good pizza but absolutely book a table! There is a small dehors. – ‘Pizzeria Riri’, Viale Rimembranza 41, a short walk from home, good pizza, a little hard to digest in my opinion. – Portobello’, Via Portobello 16. On the Baia del Silenzio, the terrace overlooking the sea takes your breath away. One of the best restaurants; if you want to spend, I think it is the best in Sestri. – A little further away (10-15 minutes from home) is ‘Calamaro fritto’, Traversa di Viale Dante, 3a/b, near the Coop. It is located in the pedestrian square; very spartan, it started out as a fish market. Plastic plates, cutlery and glasses, but if it fits, the fish is great! Very competitive prices. Absolutely book! Have a drink at Hotel Helvetia’s bar on the Baia del Silenzio looking out to the sea on the left.
Check-in time is from 3 p.m. to midnight. You can only arrive earlier if the flat is free. Check it out by contacting us and we will be happy to help you. Check-in is automated via stainless steel keypad located to the left of the entrance door. A few days before your arrival we will send you your personal code, activated exclusively for you. It will allow you to enter and leave your home in total freedom, without using your keys.
You will have time to leave the flat until 10 a.m. on the day of departure.
Please write to us if you have this need and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Don’t worry, we are here to solve every possible problem. Write to us via WhatsApp or call us, we will endeavour to solve the problem as soon as possible.
